Meh! Past-Dirk decided that checking behind the couch would be too much effort. Instead, he took his waffle into his room, and closed his door behind him. Present-Dirk and Buddy stared at each other in disbelief. "We're really in the past!" whispered Buddy.
"I don't get it! How did it happen?" asked Dirk.
"Remember that final time machine that Janet at MADD said they built? It must be your coffee machine!"
"That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard," said Dirk. "I think it's more like a Groundhog's Day scenario, except I suppose the presence of past-me makes that kind of hard to sell..."
"Dirk, it's obviously a Back to the Future scenario. We just went back a couple hours, though, instead of to the 1950s."
"So now we just have to wait a couple hours... until our past selves go to MADD and bring the time machine back and disappear... and then we'll be back where we should be again. Right?"
"I think so," said Buddy. "But I'm pretty sure that we're going to be noticed back here if we keep hiding by the time past-me comes over. Which means only one thing..."
